BASIC ROULETTE
Object of the game:
To predict where a small metal ball will land after a spinning wheel comes to a stop.
Table setup:
A multicolored design is printed on green felt to designate the betting possibilities.
The wheel:
A Roulette wheel has 36 number slots and the symbols for 0 and 00. Half the number slots are red and half are black. The 0 & 00 slots are green. Slots are arranged to distribute the even, odd, high and low numbers, the red, black and two green spaces evenly around the wheel. The center of the wheel has a tall spindle. The wheel has a track or raised edge to keep the ball from falling off during play. The Roulette ball is 1/2- to 3/4- inch in diameter.
Basic play:
The dealer spins the wheel counterclockwise and flips the ball into the track in a clockwise direction. When the ball slows down, it bounces randomly until it falls between two metal partitions marking the winning number.
Straight-up bet:
A bet on one number. Pays 35 to 1. Any number including 0 and 00 can be bet.
Split bet:
Placing chip on line bets two numbers. Either comes up you get 17 to 1.
Street bet:
Chip on edge of row covers three numbers. Pay off is 11 to 1.
Corner bet:
Chip on intersection covers four numbers. Pay off is 8 to 1.
Red or black:
Outside bet. Pay off is 1 to 1.
Even or odd:
Outside bet. Pay off is 1 to 1.
BLACKJACK
Object of the game :
To come closest to a card count of 21. A player has "busted" if the card count exceeds 21 and must forfeit the bet.
Cards:
Aces count as either 1 or 11 (player's discretion). Kings, Queens and Jacks count as 10. All other cards count at face value.
Play:
Players are dealt two cards face up. The dealer gets one face up, one face down. Players either stay or take more cards. Any player who does not bust waits for the dealer's turn. The dealer turns up the down card. By rule, on counts of 17 or higher the dealer must stay: a count of 16 or less means the dealer must draw again.
Winning and losing:
Remaining players with a higher count than the dealer win an amount equal to their bet. Players with a natural 21 (for example a queen and an ace) are paid off at 3 to 2. Players with a lower count than the dealer forfeit the bet.
Table setup:
Six to eight 52-card decks are shuffled together and placed in a card-dealing shoe. A table is staffed by a dealer and a pit boss, who monitors play for mistakes and rules on all disagreements.
Betting:
Minimum is $1. A per-hand maximum can go as high as $100.
